Celebrating Living Wage Accreditation: Supporting Our Team and Our Community

We are thrilled to announce that we have Living Wage accreditation. This milestone not only reflects our dedication to reducing waste in the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board area but also demonstrates our commitment to the wellbeing and fair treatment of our team.

What Does the Living Wage Mean?

The Living Wage is a standard that ensures workers earn enough to provide for themselves and their families, covering the basic necessities of life. More than just a financial figure, it is about dignity and the ability to participate fully in society as active, contributing citizens. We believe that all workers deserve fair pay, and we’re proud to be contributing to this important kaupapa.

From 1 September 2024, the Living Wage hourly rate will be $27.80. This is a $1.80 increase on the 2023/24 rate and reflects a 6.9% rise in New Zealand's average ordinary time hourly rate, recognising the increasing cost of living and ensuring that workers are not left behind. Tamaki WRAP’s Commitment to Our Team

At Tāmaki WRAP, our work is only possible because of the dedication of our team. We are lucky to have a passionate group of Community Activators who work tirelessly to reduce waste and promote sustainability across Maungakiekie-Tāmaki. Our team of four Community Activators are engaged in projects that focus on the unique waste reduction needs of their communities. These initiatives are crucial in building a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

A Step Towards a Fairer Future

Living Wage accreditation is not just about numbers on a paycheck – it's about the bigger picture. It’s about creating an ecosystem where all workers can thrive, live with dignity and feel valued for their contributions.

When teams feel supported and valued, they are more empowered to bring positive change, both within their communities and in the wider world. By becoming a Living Wage employer, Tāmaki WRAP is setting an example with other organisations in the sector who are prioritising people alongside the planet.
